Why do so many people enter into seclusion and come out in a worse situation than before they enter?

Because you are just going to dig a hole and you are going to sleep all day inside there. No, you are going to work, you are going to be active, you are going to learn what it means to be awake and aware, what it means to be fast, what it means to be alert, what is right and what is wrong. If you don’t go through all these training and you just dig a hole and sit, you don’t know how to be awake, you don’t know how to be alert. You are in ghaflat, that time you are going to imagine everything that sheytan puts in your heart, everything your ego puts in your heart. You are going to think it is real, you are going to be in a worse situation then before you enter.

So many people they are like that when they enter into seclusion. Same thing. They are like that. If you don’t know how to be in a a jamaat, you cannot be alone, you cannot enter into a seclusion. If you think jamaat is bad enough, to have twenty, forty people and, ‘ohh, they don’t like me. I don’t like them. I have problem with that.’ Then you are going to find it very very difficult because out there you are going to be surrounded by sheytans and other ones and your ego that will never leave you alone for one moment. At least these people they may leave you alone when they go to sleep. Why is that? Prophet (asws) is saying, ‘if you take one step in the way of Allah, there will be seventy sheytans that is waiting for you.’

‘Oh, I just want to be alone with my Allah.’ No, you are going to be alone with your sheytans. Because you don’t know, you have not clean yourself, your radar, your radio, to understand what is coming from Rahman, what is coming from sheytan, what is nafsani and what is rahmani. You don’t know, then definitely you are going to be confused when you are in that seclusion. Definitely. Then everything that you imagine, everything that comes to your heart, you are going to say this is Rahmani. Oh, then you are going to be in big trouble. That time, as there were people they are saying, ‘every night I eat with Allah.’ Eh, they are saying to Sheykh Maulana. Sheykh Maulana is saying, ‘do you remember me one time when you are with Allah?’ Meaning, people get drunk, they push aside Prophet, they push aside their guide, they push aside everything, ‘it’s just me and Allah.’ That’s when big problem comes to you. And that one was not eating with Allah every night. Sheykh Maulana made Sheykh Effendi go look, you know where he was? He was in the toilet, eating the dirtiness, he was eating it. Sheytan has tricked him. He says, ‘I’m eating Heavenly food.’ Yeah, don’t play. Be alert. Understand, it’s a very dangerous world we are living in. Our ego is very dangerous. Fatiha.
